Microsoft Ignite 2025: AI, Copilot and Power Platform – These are the highlights

Das bedeutet: AI can do more than just save time. It can make things possible that were previously unthinkable.

Microsoft 365 Copilot becomes “Work IQ”

Copilot has long been more than a simple chat assistant. With the new “Work IQ” concept, Microsoft is going one step further: Copilot is to understand the entire way an organization works in the future – from complex organizational structures to approval processes and information flows. This makes it not just a tool, but an intelligent companion that knows the context and proactively supports it. One highlight is the new agent mode in Word, Excel and PowerPoint: Copilot acts like a digital colleague who actively participates, drives tasks forward independently and thus raises productivity to a new level.

Partnerships and open AI models for greater flexibility

At the same time, Microsoft continues to expand its AI ecosystem. In addition to the well-known OpenAI models, models from Anthropic (Claude) will also be integrated in the future. In addition, the cooperation with NVIDIA strengthens the computing power for AI applications to handle even the most demanding scenarios. The goal is clear: to give companies more choice and flexibility in the use of AI – all under the umbrella of Responsible AI to ensure security and ethical standards.

Power Platform: Low-code is a thing of the past

The Power Platform has so far been the tool for low-code development – ideal for citizen developers who want to create apps and workflows without deep programming knowledge. But Microsoft is going one step further: AI is making the platform even smarter. What does that mean in concrete terms?

  • Power Apps with “Vibe Coding”: You simply describe your app in natural language – and the AI builds it for you.
For example, “Create a sharing app with the Name, Date, and Status fields” – and the app will be created live in front of your eyes. Perfect for quick prototypes. But beware: Currently only usable with Microsoft Dataverse and still in preview.

  • Power Automate with Generative Actions: Building workflows has often been tedious in the past. With Generative Actions, you simply describe what should happen and the AI suggests suitable connectors.

  • Power BI with natural language control thanks to MCP Server: Query key figures without complicated formulas? With the new Model Context Protocol (MCP), you can simply ask, “Show me revenue for 2025” — and Power BI provides the answer.

That sounds like a real revolution for citizen developers. But: Many of these features are still in preview and currently only available in the USA.

Result

Many features are currently still in preview and available in the USA for the time being. For companies, this means testing prototypes, gaining experience, but not immediately changing everything. Those who experiment early can secure competitive advantages, but with a sense of proportion and a clear strategy. Di e Ignite 2025 has shown that AI is no longer a topic of the future, but a reality. Whether it’s Copilot, Power Platform or new partnerships – Microsoft is consistently focusing on intelligent automation. Now it is important to recognize the opportunities and choose the right time to get started. We are happy to support you!
